To make the most of your summer travelling across the Hauraki Gulf, check out our top summer travel tips.

  • Introducing Waiheke Reserve: The Waiheke Reserve ferry will give visitors the opportunity to pre-book the date and departure times in advance, and passengers are welcome to board the service anytime up to 20 minutes prior to the scheduled departure. A return ticket on the Waiheke Reserve ferry service is $95 per person. Read more here.

  • Plan ahead: Our peak season timetable with additional frequency to Waiheke and Rangitoto Island is now live. Waiheke Island Walk-up service summer timetable and Rangitoto timetable effective 16 October can be found here.

  • Pack your essentials. Remember to dress for the weather. Conditions can change rapidly in the Hauraki Gulf, so bring sunblock, a hat, warm layers and rain gear if the weather takes a turn. Remember any medications you may require for your trip, as well as water, lunch and snacks if you’re heading to a pest-free island without shops.

  • Complete the biosecurity checklist. If you’re travelling to a pest-free island, you’ll need to check your gear for stowaway pests, ensure your bags are sealed and clean your shoes. Please make sure you understand what you need to do before you go and allow plenty of time before you depart to complete these biosecurity checks. Read more about biosecurity and visiting pest free islands.

  • Love the neighbour. We all like a bit of space on board the ferry; however, when it’s busy we ask that bags are placed on the floor or luggage racks and not on seats, so others can sit down. That way everyone can have a comfortable trip.

We are all looking forward to a long hot summer and at times, especially sunny days, it’ll be busy on the wharf. Our crew are legends, committed to giving you the best Fullers360 experience. We have a few simple travel tips to help make the most of your experience with us. Check out our travel tips below, Be A Legend, and remember to be kind to our incredible crew, who are working hard to get you where you need to be.

Travel off-peak

Do your best to travel off-peak when it’s less busy. Leaving Auckland between 10am and 12pm and leaving Waiheke between 3pm and 6pm will be busy and we expect long queues. Avoid these times if you can so you can make the most of your time on the island.

Arrive early

If you can’t travel off-peak arrive at the ferry terminal early. We recommend arriving at least 90 minutes before your preferred sailing to Waiheke Island.

If you’re travelling to Rangitoto Island or Rotoroa Island please check in at the Information Centre/ticket office at least 30 minutes prior to departure.

Pre-purchase your tickets online

Purchase your tickets online to save you time on the day you’re travelling. You can print your tickets at home or present your mobile phone when boarding.
If you purchased your tickets online and have them on your phone, or if you printed your tickets at home, you do not need to check-in, you can proceed directly to pier 13 to wait to board your ferry.
