How can I use the AT HOP card to pay for ferry fares?
You can pre-load money onto your AT HOP card and use this ‘HOP Money’ to pay for ferry travel. Using your AT HOP card to travel on ferries means you get at least 10% off single trip cash fares.
You pay for your travel by tagging on and off at the AT HOP card readers located in ferry terminals and on pontoons used by ferry services.
Your discount will be applied to your fare when you tag off, be sure to tag on before you board and tag off each time you disembark to ensure you get at least 10% discount off the single cash fare.
What are the benefits?
If you are an occasional ferry passenger then the AT HOP card may be a good option as you will receive at least 10% discount on single trip cash fares by using HOP Money as payment.
If you’re a regular ferry passenger and use ferry operator discount passes you may, at present, find it better value to continue using these products. You may find it handy, however to keep an AT HOP card in your pocket for use on trains, to get free travel on the City LINK buses or as a back-up for your fare on ferry journeys.
In addition, using the AT HOP card you can:
- Get at least 10% off single trip cash fares.
- Travel free on the red City LINK bus service.
- Use the AT HOP card to pay for travel on trains.
- Registered cards can be topped up online for added convenience.
- If a registered card is lost or stolen, the balance is protected within 24 hours of it being reported to the AT HOP call centre on 09 366 4467.
Can I use cash or the tickets and passes I normally use to travel on ferries?
Yes. The AT HOP card is an additional product. Existing tickets and passes will continue to be sold at the usual ferry outlets. You can use your current tickets or cash as you normally do to travel on ferries.
What services can I use the AT HOP card on?
HOP Money can be used to pay for single trip cash fares on services to:
- Gulf Harbour
- Bayswater, Birkenhead, Northcote Point, Devonport, and Stanley Bay
- Waiheke (Fullers Ferries)
- Pine Harbour
- West Harbour
- Half Moon Bay
- Beach Haven*
*once services begin.
Can I still purchase Fullers monthly passes and other concession tickets?
Yes. There are no changes to the tickets you normally purchase for travel on ferries.
What will happen to 7-Day Maxx passes, all zone and Discovery Monthly passes?
These are still available for use as usual.
Will ferry monthly passes and other ferry operator passes be available on the AT HOP card?
At this stage monthly and other operator passes for ferries are not available on the AT HOP card. Auckland Transport and ferry operators are working together closely in the roll-out of the AT HOP cards to enable products, such as monthly and other passes, to be available on the AT HOP card in the future.
Where can I buy an AT HOP card?
You can purchase an AT HOP card at the following ferry ticket offices: Fullers Ticket Offices: Downtown Ferry Terminal, Devonport Ferry Terminal and Waiheke Ferry Terminal
You can also buy an AT HOP card at, Ticket Offices located at Britomart, Newmarket, New Lynn and Papakura train stations and at the AT Customer Service Centre at AUT Campus.
Where can I top up and load money on my AT HOP card?
No matter what ferry you use, if your card is registered, you can top up your AT HOP card online or at the following ferry ticket offices: Fullers Ticket Offices: Downtown Ferry Terminal, Devonport Ferry Terminal and Waiheke Ferry.
You can also top up at Ticket & Top-Up machines at all train stations, Ticket Offices located at Britomart, Newmarket, New Lynn and Papakura train stations and the AT Customer Service Centre at AUT Campus.
How do I register my AT HOP card?
To register your card go to ATHOP.co.nz and follow the instructions on line.
Will SuperGold and other concessions still be available on the AT HOP card?
